PC broke down again

Alvin brought the PC back to the shop for repair a second time. It works there but after he brought it home, it just couldn't work. This time our PC is definitely gone!

It was especially hard for Matt. He couldn't play his computer games. Actually, it was hard on all of us because we are so dependent on the PC.

Now, Alvin is comtemplating buying a new CPU. He said it costs around $500 but can get some discounts if he trade-in the old one.

Talk at SNEC and 3rd PSG meeting

On Saturday, Amanda and I attended a talk on "Assistive Technology" at SNEC. I learnt a couple of tips from the talk. After the talk we held our third PSG meeting. It was a little sad that only 4 parents turned up. Nevertheless, we had a good meeting. We plan to approach AWWA for a start-up fund, put up flyer to recruit new members, create our very own website and organise a talk cum forum in October.

I am very pleased that our group is making much progress.

PC broke down

Hmm...What to do? We are all so dependent on the computer. Without it, Matt can't play his computer games, Amanda can't go into her MSN messenger, Alvin can't check on the football games, and I can't do my office homework!

We are all so lost! We need to get the PC fixed quickly!

Trip to KL and Port Dickson

I needed to get away from the office...from work! I desperately needed this holiday break. Otherwise, I'll go mad!

As usual, our holiday trip was planned at the last minute. Initially, we wanted to go to KL and then to Genting Highlands (but the hotels were fully booked). Instead, we booked one night each at the Istana Hotel, KL and the Guoman Resort, Port Dickson.

Despite the short holiday, we all enjoyed ourselves. In KL, Amanda and I had a fun time shopping at Bukit Bintang. While the boys enjoyed the thrill rides at Times Square. At Port Dickson, we gals relaxed by the pool while the boys went canoeing. It was certainly a family bonding time. The best part is that after all these years, I could still play ping pong with my son and husband. Ha..ha..

2nd PSG Meeting

We had our 2nd PSG Meeting on Sat, 31/5/08. Six mothers including myself, and 3 of our kids turned up for the meeting. Meng Ee also attended the meeting at our invitation. He is such an incredible person. I admire his resilence to excel despite his handciap. He has a doctorate and teaches at NIE. He came to our meeting because he was doing a research on children with special needs. He supports the PSG efforts and encouraged us to register the group.

That evening, Meng Ee would be taking part in the Adidas Sundown Marathon (42km). I find this so amazing. Our children could definitely learn a lot from him. He will be giving a talk on "Assistive Technology" for the VH on Sat, 28/6/08 at SNEC. I will definitely sign for both Amanda and myself.

Our meeting went well. The next step for the PSG would be to apply for a start up fund with AWWA. I am so excited that things are moving ahead!

Passion Run - Race Bib no. 8949

Bao Li, Larry and I had our first fun run together on Sunday at the East Coast Park. For me this was my fourth run (5km). I kept a collection of all the race bibs and stuck them onto my fridge. Whenever I step into the kitchen I feel proud to see my achievements!

I finished the race with a timing of 41 minutes. Bao Li finished the race 10 minutes ahead of old Auntie Mabel. I can see that Bao Li has the potential to be a runner. She is 13 years old, lightweight and has lots of stamina. She is suddenly so keen on running and kept asking me to register her for more runs. Well, for me I am happy to have found a running companion.

Sunday was also the first time that we saw SM Goh in person. He was there to officiate the race.

After Bao Li and I finished the race, we waited for about an hour for Larry. He didn't show up. We wondered why he took so long! We were worried that he might have fainted or collapsed. He didn't have a mobile phone on him and we couldn't contact him. However, we finally found him waiting at the wrong place. After that, we had brunch at the foodcourt, and the kids went rollerblading for a while before we proceeded home.

Trip to the zoo

As promised, I brought Matt and his friends, Zibin, Guo Hao, Douglas and Mabel (Douglas' older sister; she is 11 years old) to the zoo on Saturday. Alvin picked the kids up at their homes and gave us a lift to the zoo.

Luckily, we set off early. We managed to see the White Tiger, the primates, the penguins and the Orang Utan before it rained heavily. Despite the rain, the children had a good time and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

We stopped for lunch at KFC. After that, the children played at the water playground getting themselves all wet. Good thing, I told them to bring extra clothes.

Little Mabel was an angel. She helped to look after her little brother, Douglas. He was the most mischievious of the lot. He was very forgetful and left his ezylink card on the bus. Luckily, the bus driver found and returned the card to him. However, when we board the feeder bus back to CCK estate, he again misplaced his ezylink card. After I have paid for his bus fare, he found it in his trouser pocket.

Cold Storage Kids Run

The day has finally arrived! Matthew participated in the Cold Storage Kids Run at the Padang this morning. He was in the boys Speedy purple dash category for 10 to 12 years old. It was his first ever competitive run.

The distance was 1.4km. Before we could walk across to the other end of the padang we could see a number of boys almost reaching the finishing point. We waited anxiously for Matthew to appear. Almost a third of the boys had dashed by when we spotted the fat boy with the orange cap and bright red shorts struggling along. Amanda loudly cheered Matt on, and you could see the exhaustion on his face. He could barely walk. Thank God he made it to the finishing point in one piece!

We are so proud of Matt. I believe he was proud of himself and very happy to receive a medal for completing the race. Hopefully, this experience will spur him on to participate in more running events and eventually become fit and trim. Ha..ha.. But he has to control his appetite first. After all the sweat, he ate "bak kut teh" for brunch at Maxwell Market!!!

P.S. Matt said he smiled for the camera. So hopefully, we can catch him on Channel 5 news tonight.
