Cold Storage Kids Run

The day has finally arrived! Matthew participated in the Cold Storage Kids Run at the Padang this morning. He was in the boys Speedy purple dash category for 10 to 12 years old. It was his first ever competitive run.

The distance was 1.4km. Before we could walk across to the other end of the padang we could see a number of boys almost reaching the finishing point. We waited anxiously for Matthew to appear. Almost a third of the boys had dashed by when we spotted the fat boy with the orange cap and bright red shorts struggling along. Amanda loudly cheered Matt on, and you could see the exhaustion on his face. He could barely walk. Thank God he made it to the finishing point in one piece!

We are so proud of Matt. I believe he was proud of himself and very happy to receive a medal for completing the race. Hopefully, this experience will spur him on to participate in more running events and eventually become fit and trim. Ha..ha.. But he has to control his appetite first. After all the sweat, he ate "bak kut teh" for brunch at Maxwell Market!!!

P.S. Matt said he smiled for the camera. So hopefully, we can catch him on Channel 5 news tonight.
