New Year's Resolutions 2011

This is a very meaningful song by John Lennon:

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear............

Yes, so what have I done in 2010? Yup, another challenging year for me. It was tough to juggle both work and part-time studies at the same time. Though, I am proud to have completed and passed the Paralegal course.

At the home front, we had to struggle with Amanda's eye condition. She had a second cornea transplant in May. This time round, she has to consume immuno-suppressant drugs "cellcept" for at least 2 years.

So what are my New Year Resolutions? After reading Hal Urban's "Life's greatest lessons", I am inclined to think that resolutions are like goals. So here goes my resolutions for 2011:

1. Register for 5 running events (to stay fit and healthy)
2. Have a time out every month with my girl friends
3. Bake every fortnight and try out new recipes
4. Read a book every month
5. Have regular one to one outing with Amanda and Matt individually
6. Go to church regularly (pray for inner peace, and ask God to protect and keep my family safe)
7. Make a trip with my family to Taiwan
8. Actively participate in Beyond Vision support group
9. Join my "kakis" on a trip to Hong Kong
10. Support and encourage Amanda to study hard in JC; and Matthew to work harder in Secondary school.

Quote from Hal Urban: "Goals are dreams with deadlines". "People with goals succeed because they know where they're going". So I can succeed and I can make it happen!

Trip to Genting Hilghlands

It was the first time Bao Li joined us (without her parents) on a holiday trip. As usual, we did last minute hotel bookings and managed to book 2 rooms at Awana Genting from 28 to 30 Dec.

We had quite an adventure driving up to Genting. Especially, on the first night when Alvin had to drive down from Genting to Awana. It was so foggy we couldn't see a thing. Matt was so funny. He tried to help navigate his dad to drive slowly. Thank God we made it safely back to Awana.

The kids enjoyed themselves very much. Matt and Bao Li took the rides at the Outdoor Theme Park together. Bao Li won a red teddy bear by sheer luck. She gave the teddy to Amanda. The kids named the teddy "Bao Bao".

Amanda and Bao Li just clicked so well together. Their gals' chit chat can go on forever.

Bao Li really enjoyed eating. We introduced her to barbeque stingray and fish which she has never eaten before, and to her they were so delicious!
