Cruise to Phuket 20-24 Dec 2008

We went on a 5-days cruise to Phuket (on Libra) from 20 to 24 Dec. All thanks to Uncle Richard, who helped us to book the cruise. Throughout the trip we were entertained by Uncle Richard. Matt and Uncle Richard get on really well. Now Matt calls Uncle Richard "Godpa".

We did so many things on the ship. We watched a cooking demo, Amanda and I went to the gym to exercise, and we also went to the jacuzzi and swimming pool. Matt took part in a Wii Challenge and table-tennis competition. And Amanda nearly won the Bingo Jackpot prize of S$9,000! Just 3 numbers left!

Needless to say,Uncle Richard, Uncle Allen and Alvin spend most of their time at the casino. I came along on one of the nights to watch. Alvin won S$600 and treated everyone to lunch at Phuket Town. We went to a Thai Restaurant recommended by Uncle Richard. The food was indeed sumptious!

At Phuket Town, we went shopping and bought levis jeans for the 2 kids.

Matt tried parasailing for the first time. He enjoyed it so much and wanted to go a second round. Alvin said once is enough as the ride costs 10,000 baht!

Christmas Midnight mass

We attended Christmas Midnight Mass at St Mary's. This year we arrive early but still couldn't get good seats. Alvin dropped us off, and then went for supper. He returned later to join the mass, sitting outside the church.

Initially, Matt agreed to go to church because he wanted to pray for Uncle Richard and our family. But after awhile, he became restless and even fell asleep! Sigh!

Get-together with old neighbour

It was good meeting up with Bok Hui, Elson and 3 gals again. Bok Hui, my ex-neighbour is also my good friend. I missed all the good times we shared chit chatting about our kids and husbands.

Alvin had mahjong session so he didn't joined us. I brought the kids to the Raffles Town Club. I brought christmas presents for the 3 gals.

Bok Hui had booked 2 lanes at the bowling alley. We bowled 2 games. Ann Cher's two classmates also joined us. We all had good fun. After so long I still managed to score reasonably well. I have impressed the kids with my bowling skills!

After bowling, we had buffet dinner. We chit chatted for some time before heading home.

Sports & Adventure Camp

From Wed, 10/12/08 to Fri morning, 12/12/08 (2.5 days), Matt was at the Sports & Adventure Camp organised by the CDC. It was his first time away from home. We missed him.

On the second day, both Papa and Amanda visited Matt at the campsite. Alvin said Matt looked very tired. It was like as if he had gone for army training. I thought that it was a good idea for Matt to do sports and get to know more friends. Instead of staying home playing the computer all day!

It was indeed army training for Matt! He complained that his whole body was aching. He said he had to walk 10km. He didn't use the shower cream or shampoo for 2 days! He said he didn't have enough time to shower, and he slept at 12 midnight and woke up at 5am. Whew! I think he was glad to be at home sweet home!

BBQ

On Sat, 6/12/08, we had BBQ with our friends at the Bukit Batok Civil Service Club House. Phyllis, Pamela and I had planned for this bbq many months ago.

Mike prepared and marinated the chicken, beef and saba fish. I ordered satay, otah, charcoal and wire mesh from City Satay. I also took care of the canned drinks. Phyllis provided napkins, fruits, marshmallows and insect repellent.

There were 10 of us in the little tree house including Shan Shan, Pam's goddaughter, and Shan Shan's parents. We all had a good time.

Mike is a great cook. I think he has the potential to go into the food business.

Amanda's Check up on Saturday, 6/12/08

It had been one month since the stitches had been removed. Finally, the doctor said that Amanda can stop taking the steriods. "Her eye condition remains stable. Come back in one month's time." What a relief! I was so happy to hear these words from the doctor! Thanks be to God, Amen.

I knew that Amanda felt the same way too.

I must keep up with my faith. Together with Amanda, we must constantly pray for God's healing.

Check up @ TTSH Eye Centre

Six weeks ago, I had my routine eye screening done at TTSH. Overall, the results were ok except that I failed the visual field assessment. I was referred to Associate Prof Goh, a Consultant Ophthalmologist on 3/12/08.

After the tests the doctor said I was fine. I was discharged and advised to go back for annual eye screening. I was so relieved on hearing this!

Before the tests, I was given some eyedrops to dilate my eyes. I had been warned that my vision will be blurred for about 2 hours or so. I felt strange walking around and seeing everything so blur. It made me realised that this might be how Amanda sees things around her or maybe worse still!
