Dream ZZzzz

Look at my yummy doughnuts and custard puffs. My family said they tastes pretty good too! Can you imagine the premix doughnut flour costs $1.85 and I could make 11 doughnuts. Once I have perfected the recipe I reckon I could sell my doughnuts for about 60 cents each. Ha! Ha! Ha! Right now my husband and kids are my guinea pigs! They have to be my testers. Well, like the saying goes "practice makes perfect". Well, my dream is to set up my own online bakery shop one day...ZZzzz

Treasure Hunt "Fun on Foot"

Last year, we participated in the Heritage's Board Treasure Hunt. It's a bit like the Amazing Race! We had to find all the 'treasures' with the clues given and complete in the fastest time. The starting point was at the Jalan Besar Stadium. I remembered Matt had to kick football and sepak takraw as part of the game. The finishing point was at Balestier (near the famous Tau Sah Piah stall). It was tiring as we had to do a lot of walking but it was certainly fun learning our cultural heritage. We missed the treasure hunt this year, but I hope we will participate again next year.

Pictured here are Bao Li, Amanda, myself, my good friends, Pamela and Phyllis, Jean (my sis in-law)together with the actresses impersonating prostitues of the old days.

Matthew's buddies

Joshua (left) and Joel (right) are Matthew's buddies. Joshua is 11 years old and Joel is 9 years old (same age as Matt). The two brothers are Matt's playground kakis, and also our neighbours who lived on the 2nd floor of our HDB block. Matt and Joel shared many common interests like playing badminton, cycling and best of all computer games ie. Maple Story and Stick Arena. They often started playing and laughing but ended fighting and crying. In the end, they are still buddies. By the way, Joel/Joshua recently had a new baby sister. Oh, Joel liked my cupcakes too!

Ohay Gozaimasu!

Alvin went to Tokyo, Japan for a 4-days business cum incentive trip from 12 to 15 March. He managed to hit the sales target and was lucky to be selected for the incentive trip. Finally, he got a chance to go to Tokyo. Afterall, his previous and current company's HQ are based in Tokyo.

Top right is a photo of Alvin making a clay cup for a souvenir, and on the bottom left is a photo of the beautiful and mystical Mount Fuji.

Amanda the TV Star

Some time in March this year, Amanda and I attended a self-defence class at the SAVH. The Media Corp crew were there to film the class for a TV program. Guess what? Amanda partnered with Melody Chen, the host of the program. It was so funny to watch them. Amanda was so rough and Melody was afraid that she would get hurt.

Media Corp interviewed Amanda and the program was aired on TV. So Amanda is now a TV star!

Family vacation

After months of family discussions, we have finally booked our family vacation at the NATAS Travel Fair last Sun, 16 Sep. It was so amazing to see so many people there. Everyone (including us) seemed to be in a frenzied rush to book the year end vacations (last day of the travel fair). Couldn't believed that we've spent 5 hours there! Could have been longer if we hadn't already made up our minds to go China. Not sure why? Maybe influenced by Amanda, because she's always talking about the Great Wall of China and Emperor Qin Shihuang (history lesson); Alvin watched a documentary recently and was fascinated by China's rich history too; Matthew - too young for comments; and as for me I want to go back to our chinese roots to see the culture and history.

The tour package we finally chose was an 8-days Family Fun Tour to Beijing/Chengde/Tianjin by ASA. Departure date: 1st Dec. Whew!!! Matt is happy too because a day trip to Happy Valley, a new theme park at Beijing is included in the tour package.

Now that is only part 1. Now for part 2, we have to get our winter jackets. We've already burnt a big hole in our pockets, so we'll need to borrow them from friends and relatives.

And oh, keep our fingers crossed and hope to win a big prize in the Grand Lucky Draw!

My nieces

On the left is a picture of Amanda and her cousin, Reina. Reina is my brother's daughter. She is an adorable 2 year old - half Chinese and half Japanese (my sis in-law is Japanese). Reina speaks Japanese to her mum and English to her dad. She'll most probably grow up to be tri-lingual as she'll learn Mandarin in school.

On the right is a picture of Amanda and Bao Li (Alvin's 3rd brother's daughter). Bao Li is Amanda's favourite cousin and best friend. Amanda is 13 years old and Bao Li is 12 years old. Both of them shared many common interests. Like all teens, they like music from Avril Lavigne, Jessy McCartney and Miley Cyrus, and watch TV programs like Hannah Montana and Disney's High School Musical.

Bao Li often come to our house for sleepovers during the school holidays. The kids always enjoyed themselves very much. That's because I am very lenient with them during those times and allowed them to stay up late to chit chat or watch TV!!!

0809 and 0908

Amanda had always wanted a piano since three and half years ago. Finally, we bought her one - a second hand Kawai Piano from IMM warehouse last Sat, 1 Sep. She was overjoyed and promised us that she will practice hard for her coming Grade 1 piano exams. Anyway, she deserves it. She had worked hard in her 3rd term school exams (4 A1s and 1 A2). Above is a picture of Amanda playing my favourite song "Canon" on my birthday. I am so proud of my darling girl!

8 Sep, my birthday (our lucky nos. 0809 and 0908)! Too bad we missed Sun's 4D prize!

Celebrated my birthday with a sumptuous dinner at First Thai Food Restaurant. My husband and kids ate there for the first time, and they enjoyed it very much.

P.S. Coincidentally, piano invoice and delivery nos. are the same - 8128!!!
