There is hope

We consulted Dr Julian Theng and Dr Lim Wee Kiak at Eagle Eye Centre this morning. Both doctors have different views. Dr Theng advised to do a donor cornea transplant. But the rejection risk is 90%. OMG, this is so scary! Is it worth trying a third time? Yes, if you can find the perfect match cornea. He thinks artificial cornea should be the last resort. On the other hand, Dr Lim was more encouraging. He advised us to see Prof Donald Tan first. He believes that Prof Tan has done a lot of research on perfect match cornea. Besides, Prof Tan is in charge of the Eye Bank and he specializes in artificial cornea. The technology for artificial cornea is more advanced now. He said not to give up hope. In the future, he said stem cells is the treatment for glaucoma.

Long awaited holidays

Once again the family went on a cruise holiday to Phuket and Langkawi. We departed on 19 June and returned on 22 June. We had Richard, Lillian, little Kayla, Chris and Alan for company.

It was a good break for us all. Our long awaited holiday! As usual, we ate a lot, watched the live show, played bingo, went shopping at Patong Night Market, and sight-seeing at Langkawi.

We are so looking forward to cruising again this December with our friends.

Amanda's surgery

Amanda has been through so much sufferings. God, please put an end to all her sufferings.

Sometimes, I just don't know what to think. I just feel numb and lost. That's how I felt when the doctor said Amanda needs another op. I think Amanda felt the same way too. She said to me "this is not fair, mum". And I said, "I know, dear". It's not fair and I don't know why or how to explain to her.

Amanda once wrote that "I wish...I wish...I wish... for a miracle".

Thank you, Lord for the successful op.

Matthew's 13th birthday

We celebrated Matthew's birthday at The Soup Restaurant at Vivo City. Auntie Jean, Uncle Larry and Bao Li joined us for dinner there.

I bought Matt a Nike school bag for his birthday present. Amanda gave him a thumbdrive and Alvin gave him maple card!

Matthew is at Changi Campsite

Matthew went to the Changi Campsite for his Sec 1 Orientation. He was away for 4 days, 3 nights. The whole house was so quiet without Matt. I think we all missed him.

I attended Zhenghua's (Matt's school) Campfire to show my support for Matt. His class Sec 1-E3 performed a dance item. I thought it was quite good. Better than the other classes because one of his classmate, a Malay boy performed break dancing. He was really good.

GCE O Level Results

I received a surprise sms from Ms Chong, Amanda's form teacher. It said that Amanda had done very well in the O level exams; better than expected results. I was delighted and thrilled by the news. I am so proud of my girl. Despite the many challenges she had to overcome, especially after the 2nd cornea op, she had done pretty well in the exams. Amanda scored 2A1s in Eng Literature & Combined Humans, 2A2s in E Maths & Combine Science, and 2Bs in A Maths & English with a total raw score of 12 points. Net score was 11 points after deducting 1 point for CCA.

So what's next? She'll have to decide which JC to apply for that is within her points range.
